Thunder Ice Arena
Trine University’s 46,200-square-foot, 700-seat Thunder Ice Arena is located on U.S. 20/West Maumee Street. The arena includes an NCAA-compliant ice rink; men’s and women’s varsity, club and visitor’s lockers; weight and training rooms; concessions; a pro shop with wearables, sticks and skates for sale; a VIP lounge and press box. It also includes skate rental and sharpening and is be open to the community for programs and open skates.
Thunder Athletics
Trine’s NCAA DIII men’s and women’s hockey teams dropped the puck on their inaugural season in 2017 as a member of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association, a conference of regional institutions. Trine also has two men’s hockey teams playing in the American Collegiate Hockey Association DII and DIII.
Learn to Skate® Classes
Certified skating coaches will take you from the ground to the ice, no matter what your athletic ability. Fundamentals of hockey and other classes are also available.

Free Skate Rental
*Each participant who registers will receive a skating pass for 5 open skates. Add a second class during a session and pay $130 for both classes. ^ Before registering for class you will need a membership number from Learn to Skate USA. The LTS membership fee is $16. The association you are registering for will be Trine University Skating Academy. Register with LTS.

Open skate is open every Sunday 4:45-6:45 pm and every Wednesday 5:45 – 7:45 pm.

Adult drop-in hockey is available during the week. Be sure to bring your own pucks and equipment.

Skate Sharpening
Skate sharpening is available at the Thunder Ice Arena. The fee for sharpening is $8 per pair with payment due at drop off.

The viewing suite/box overlooking the rink is available for rental.

*No outside food allowed. Catering is provided by campus provider Bon Appetit.
